Military couples plan on a moving target. Orders change, deployments shift, and the venue you loved may be three states away by spring. Here's how we plan for flexibility from day one.

Get the reschedule terms in writing.

1. Choose vendors with real rescheduling terms

Before you sign, ask every vendor how a date change works: the notice they need, whether the deposit transfers, and how long it stays valid. Get the answer in writing.

Plan the celebration you want, then build the contingency into the contract.

2. Plan digitally so either partner can lead

A shared budget, a vendor tracker, and recorded check-ins let a deployed partner weigh in on decisions without being in the room.

3. Keep a minimum viable wedding plan

Decide early what a smaller, faster version looks like: a courthouse ceremony with a dinner, or a backyard reception. If orders move your date up, you're ready.

4. Know when to call in a planner

Even month-of coordination takes the final 30 days of vendor confirmations off your plate. That matters when you're also packing a house.
